Right to Know Day around the world - Canada

1. Information Commissioners across Canada have organized a Right to Know Week to coincide with Right to Know Day! For more information see: http://www.righttoknow.ca/

2. To mark Right to Know Week in Canada, the Canadian Newspaper Association has just realesed its second national audit "Canada's Right to Know on Shaky Ground...2nd National Freedom of Information Audit Reveals Major Barriers Remain"

3. The Federal Accountability Act is being reviewed as part of the debate over the Federal Accountability Act in the Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs - more info

4. The Ontario Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner published a a press release regarding a "Right-to-Know Week" event that was held in Toronto. Our office, in conjunction with the Canadian Newspaper Association and the Institute for Public Administration of Canada (Toronto chapter) hosted a luncheon to mark Canada's and Ontario's first Right-to-Know Week (inspired by the international effort.) There are a variety of other events happening in other jurisdictions across Canada this week, hosted by the federal Access to Information Commissioner and our other provincial/territorial colleagues.
