Right to Know Day around the world - Mexico

Organizer: The National Security Archive, USA
Date:
September 28
Event: Launch of a new website

On September 28, 2007 we will be launching a new website dedicated to our Program on Transparency and Access-to-Information in Mexico. On this website we will also be publishing information on our week-long media initiative Mexico Abierto, which launched the week of March 11-17of this year.

In collaboration with our colleagues from the University of California, Santa Cruz, we are also making available a video of a conference taken part in by Sowmya Kidambi, a member of a grassroots organization or workers and peasant (MKSS-Maydoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan). The speech was given during a conference in the state of Guerrero, Mexico in November 2006, and is incredibly interesting and insightful in that it conveys the perspective of those advocating greater transparency in India.

We would also like to invite those interested in filming events related to Right to Know day to make them available, along with the video of Sowmya’s speech, on YouTube. This format provides the opportunity to share our work with thousands of people and diffuse information about the right to know movement. If there are any problems uploading the files, please feel free to contact us.
