Organizer: Association for Civil Rights (ADC)
Description: 1. Launch of the Freedom of Information Regional Manual that counted with the support of the International Organization Article XIX, and it was carried out with the joint efforts of the Asociacion Civil Libertad de Informacion – Mexico AC (LIMAC) and the Asociacion Brasilena de Periodismo Investigativo (ABRAJI). This manual (guidebook/handbook/guide) can be found here: Regional Manual– Public Information Accessibility. 2. Participation of the Executive Director of ADC, Roberto Saba, on the cable Tv show “Sera Justicia” presented by the journalist Lorena Maciel which is broadcasted every Monday at 11 pm on the Metro channel. This particular show was broadcasted on Monday September 10th. 3. Collaboration on the writing of an informative leaflet about freedom of information right carried out by the Subsecretaria de Derechos Humanos (Human Rights Undersecretary) of Buenos Aires’ City Government in commemoration of the International Right to Know Day. This leaflet can be referred or downloaded in electronic form here. Also, the information about this day was incorporated in the agenda of the site or this official organism. 4. Carrying out of the discussion forum “How to access information in hands of power” in conjunction with the Social Communication Licenciature career from the University of Business and Social Sciences (UCES) and with the support of the Foro de Periodismo Argentino (FOPEA), which took place on September 25th in commemoration of the Right to Know Day (28/09/07). Publication of the article “Our right to know” written by Roberto Saba, Executive Director of ADC. This article will be published on the Asociacion Civil Periodismo Social web site and in different journals of the Argentine provinces, on the International Right to Know Day. 6. Participation of the Director of the Access to Information Area of ADC, Maria Julia Giorgelli, in a panel organized by the Government of Buenos Aires City in which it will be introduced the Law 104 regulations (Law 104 guarantees the right to request and receive information to every inhabitant of the City) and a framework agreement through which the City Government and NGOs with historic compromise in the promotion and defence of this right, will carry out activities together. This event will take place on September 28th in commemoration of the International Right to Know Day. 7. Circulation of publications by ADC “Guide to use the 1172/03 Decree – Public Information Accessibility” and “Guide to use the 2549/04 – Public Information in Buenos Aires Province” which will be sent to various Law and Social Science Faculties. 8. Design of a banner about the International Right to Know Day that will be placed in different locations of the National Government, the Buenos Aires City Government and Public and Private Universities. 9. Circulation of the publication of ADC “10 questions and answers on the subject of Information Accessibility rights to businessmen” which will be sent to different Business Schools and Chambers of Commerce.
