Organizer: Comissioner for Access to Public Information
Date: September 19-28, 2005

Description: Slovenia is in the year 2005 joining the international Right to know day celebration. The office of the Commissioner for Access to Public Information will for this occasion organize the following activities:

- A media campaign in order to raise awareness of the right:

  • A media statement to announce the Right to know day to Slovenian public, 10 days prior to the celebration day on September 28 will be issued,
    In the week preceding the celebration, the Slovenian Commissioner, Mrs. Natasa Pirc Musar will present her views and notions on the importance and relevance of the celebration in her interview for the Slovenian national newspaper,
    On a day prior to the celebration a press release will be issued to the media, explaining the significance of this day both in Slovenia and abroad, as well as the novelties of the new Amending Act of Access to Public Information, which further increases the legal certainty in gaining public information,

- An e-greeting card will be sent to public sector bodies which with their work render possible the granting of access to information, thanking them for the effort and cooperation

- A web-congratulations card will be published on the home-page of the Commissioner encouraging Slovene public to consider the importance of the right to know.
