Organizer: Acces-info Center Moldova Date: 28 September - 3 October 2009 Event: 6th Right to Know Day Program Description: The "Acces-info" Center (Moldova) organizes the 6th issue of Right to Know Days (28 September - 3 October 2009) This year the campaign slogan is "An active person is a well informed one, and a non-informed person is easy to manipulate". Extracts from the Program:
- National Annual Conference "Access to information: legislation, reality and perspectives", with participation of public officials, representatives of civil society, media, libraries. - 32 district conferences, with participation of local public officials, NGOs, media, organized by the Local Resource Groups of "Acces-info" Center, the member of which took part in the trainings in the field of access to information and transparency in the decision making process. - The presentation of "Quarterly Report (7) on the evaluation of access to official information in the Republic of Moldova" (Opinion of representatives of the media and non-governmental organizations working in the field of freedom of expression and access to information), period July - September 2009. The assessment was carried out in accordance with the international practice in the field and focused on four main indicators: - legal framework for the exercise of the right to information; - the degree of availability of the public institution to provide information; - the efficiency of the public institution in reacting to the information requests; - the accessibility of the Media to the official information. - Two meetings of the Club for Journalistic Investigations. Theme: "The rights of children to opinion and information". - Submission to Parliament and Government of one set of recommendations for modification and supplement of legislation on freedom of expression (Center for Independent Journalism). - The "Hyde Park" Association has set in Chisinau several informative centers where the passer-bys are invited to write requests or petitions on access to information that will be passed to the respective authorities. - The launching and distribution of three new publications by "Acces-info" Center: - "An active person is a well informed one. A Guide for citizens"; - "Access to information: step by step. A Guide for all", containing 200 questions and answers; - "Active informing. A Guide for public officials"
All three Guides contain models of requests and answers to them and other useful data.
- Handing of Annual Award "The Bronze Bell", for consistency and courage in promotion of access to information (a public institution, 2 NGOs, 2 newspapers, a judge from Constitutional Court were awarded this year). - Exhibitions of Publications in the field of access to information within libraries from all over the republic. - Free juridical consultations. - Radio and TV programs, articles in press. |
