Organizer: Open Society Foundation In Slovakia the OSF are annually preparing the INFOact contest. This year they announced the 5th year of the contest, which provides a platform to monitor positive and negative examples of the FOIA implementation. The contest covers the preceding year and is divided into two categories. A Friendly Deed / Act looks at the active and forthcoming approach by the administration, the quality of service providers, publicizing information above and beyond the requirements of the legal framework, and at creative approaches to publicizing information. An Enemy Deed / Act considers the repeated refusal of information provision, failure to observe deadlines, reasons for refusal and intimidation of information seekers, as well as attempts to interfere in legislation. The ceremony will take place in Open Gallery in Bratislava on 28th September. Main media, nominees, NGOs and public are invited. A short documentary movie FOIA in Practice will be presented during the award ceremony. Documentary is based on good and problematic examples of using FOIA. The aim of the document is to show the public the utility of the FOIA. Afterwards document will be broadcasted in at least 25 local TV stations. We will have also an English version. So if anyone would like a copy, feel free to write and we can distribute it. |
