This year at least 5 continents participated in Right to Know day.  The day was marked by the launching of a documentary in Bulgaria, of the first transparency fair in Mexico and the stimulation of debate all over the world about transparency and freedom of information.

This year we also found that Right to Know Day has grown beyond its original circles of Freedom of Information Advocates and is being celebrated not just by the FOIAnet and its members but also a diverse spread of people working on freedom of information around the world. We found out about right to know weeks being helgua_that_appeared_in_the_venezuelan_press_RTKD_2009d around the world, including by the Information commissioner‘s office in the Cayman Islands. Journalists also took up on the issue the opportunity to celebrate Right to Know day being particularly embraced by newspapers in Venezuela, including this one, El Nacional, which produced its own guide on how to make freedom of information requests. There was also particular news coverage in Pakistan where Right to Know Day was celebrated by the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives.

Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
